Well if you were playing it wouldn't matter since rounds 4 and 6 are posted at the tournament site.

For the rest of the cyber world.

        What happened? Who won?

Is there another thread or website that would tell us this?

        Thanks.

Cheers from the best coast :D

I dunno; I paid an entry fee, played 6 games, and got to see who won on Monday night. TDs and Organizers did a great job for what I paid.

Not sure what someone who didn't pay gets to demand? Its not like you will never find out.

The results will come out, hopefully, this Thursday. For people who have not paid anything, just like me, be patient and wait till the results are published in the CFC ratings list website.:D

I played and thought it was a great tournament - very professionally run.

Organizers have lots to do, and admittedly part of that is dealing with the non-paying, non-playing public. But if they are busy after the tournament with real life, that delays their publishing results, maybe we should cut them a little slack. And as Erwin says, the tournament will be rated by CFC likely quite soon for all to see, ponder, enjoy, be amazed!

                ( I even got 2/6 pts, playing up )

Re: Hart House Reading Week Open: Feb 18-20, 2012

                  Hi all,

Thanks to everyone who came out this weekend! The quality of the chess was fantastic, and from an organizer's standpoint everything couldn't have gone smoother. I'd like to thank the rest of the organizing team without whom the event might not have gone ahead (I told our exec I wanted to play... so if I was going to be the main organizer again I'd need some helpers :D): Haizhou Xu, Leon Perelman, Robert Roller & last but certainly not least Alex Ferreira. Thanks also to our TD, Bryan Lamb, and sit-in arbiter for round 4, Stuart Brammall. Honorable mention goes to Aquino Inigo who helped set up for each round. Keep the volunteers coming!

Nikolay Noritsyn emerged in clear first, with Bindi Cheng & Tomas Krnan finishing tied for 2nd and 3rd. Other things I can remember offhand... Mike Ivanov took swiss gambiteering to a whole new level by losing the first round and winning the next 5 games to get clear first in the U2200 section!

For those looking for a full crosstable, Bryan has most likely sent them in to CFC already, so you just have to wait for their update. In the mean time I'll slowly be inputting games on chess5, so you can get your fix through those :)

And in line with the posts above... if you want the speediest results, next time pay the entry fee and come out to hart house ;)

                    Hi Geordie:

                    Well said!!

Thanks for a great tournament, and personal thanks for setting Ken and I up with an U 2200 game in Rd. 6 - much appreciated by both of us - it was a wild one! It'll be in the next SCC Newsletter, annotated by Ken.

Kuddos to Geordie Derraugh for another fantastic job as organizer!
We're lucky at Hart House to have a small army of volunteers who always do a sensational job.
As for reporting everything and living in the Internet Age... we try!
Being spoiled in Toronto, we definitely have the largest and strongest chess community I believe. And therefore have some of the bigger weekend swisses. Having said that, we organize tournaments at a pretty amateur level and don't attempt to be anything more than that. That being said, the fact that we're mostly volunteers (Bryan is the only who gets some financial compensation, but I can assure you it's by no means a worthy hourly rate), and organize amateur events, does not give us the excuse or reason to put on a poor showing, and we make efforts to keep up or even rise above our previous editions and other events if and where we can. Most people seem to be content enough to return, and those who raise concerns or viable suggestions, we address the ones we can and have improved the quality of tournaments at Hart House over the years.
There is no way one can apologize for prioritizing putting every ounce of energy into making it the best possible experience to those who are actually on-site playing in the tournament. Those across the city (especially, since they could be at Hart House), or Canada searching for details over the Internet, will simply have to wait a little longer.
The 2012 Reading Week Open was simply the smoothest-ran tournament we've had at Hart House so far! A great success :)

When are the next HH tournaments? The ratings are getting too arable over there in Toronto and could use some good Albertan-style farming.

I think the HH has a wireless connection, thus posting even unformatted results here or on other webpage should not take much time. Just copy + paste. 3 min per round maybe less.
This tournaments had a little bit more interest for me, as several our club buddies were playing, thus I was eager for results :)

As for games: yes it takes a much longer. My performance is 3 min per game.

Anyway, please write an extended report for Canadian Chess News. (and if you'll be fast it should appear in March issue)

Congratulations to the Hart House Team. A very impressive 5.5 by Nikolay!

Eric - the prospect of Alberta beef vs Ontario milk fed veal sounds tasty. Why not bring a crew with you and make it a buffet?!

The tournament is now rated on the CFC website - thanks Bryan Lamb for the timely submission of the tournament result, and CFC E.D., Gerry Litchfield, for the timely processing. CFC continues to function currently like a well-oiled machine!!

                                Hi guys,
I would like to ask if someone has taken photos of the event?
And if it is possible to share them?
                                Thanks.

                                Regards, Erwin Casareno, NM
