Declaration of War---of 1812, that is. We have a one-day 4-round G/50 tourney to mark the event---flyer is here.

With a 3pm final game of G/50, you'd have time to take in Old Fort Niagara on the way home, to see what life was like on the other side.

I realize this conflicts with the final day of the Toronto International, and I myself am unable to play in either tournament, as I will be with family in New Jersey. But I will be playing in a bigger event in Buffalo on the weekend of Sep. 15-16, and I will post info about it more ahead of time.

For other chess discussion, I see the thread on the brilliancy by IM Eric Hansen over NM Howard Wu. But how about the crazy game between GM Eugene Perelshteyn and WGM Kateryna Rohonyan? It can be viewed by going to Monroi's tournament link (registration needed) and selecting to Replay Games in Round 3.

Brilliant end game play by GM Perelshteyn to save the half point!
