    Has anyone tried this out?

What do you get and how does it compare to your actual rating?

Re: Online site to guess your rating

I love tests, so I tried this one. I got 1410. Not bad.

BTW, I checked the first three with Rybka (after writing down my choices) and there didn't seem to be a clear consensus as to which move was best. I picked:

      1) 1... Rxf3

      2) 1.Be4

      3) 1.Ke5

      but for example:

      1) 1...Bxa6 and 1...cxd4 seem fine

      2) 1.Nxh7 looks good, too

      3) 1.Rxg6 seems quite reasonable

After that I figured that any move in chess is as good as any other so I didn't answer any more questions. ;-)

I thought that as well and played 1. ... Bxa6.

Mostly, I didn't find the positions very interesting.

I got 2000, and I'm around 1900, so that's pretty accurate. In response to the third post, I played cxd4. I didn't check these positions with an engine, but certainly there can't be anything wrong with it? After all the trades on d4 just Bc5, am i missing something?

                          Re: ...Qd8-d7

I picked this move too. The position has a startling resemblence to a Nimzovitch game I liked (Johner-Nimzovich) where white's plan is to launch a pawn storm with g4.

The restraining move ....h5 loses the P so Nimzo went ..Qd7-f5-h7 or something like that. I remembered it from My System perhaps? Not really sure. I took the test early in the am cant remember all the details of my thinking.
