    TOURNAMENT DETAILS

    Location: Brookswood Senior Centre, 19899-36 Ave, Langley, BC

    Dates: September 1 to September 3, 2012 (Labor Day Weekend)

    Details: Open, Swiss format. 6 Rounds. Time control of 90 minutes each, with 30 second increment.

    Round Times:
    Round 1 – Saturday, September 1, 10:00am
    Round 2 – Saturday, September 1, 4:00pm
    Round 3 – Sunday, September 2, 10:00am
    Round 4 – Sunday, September 2, 4:00pm
    Round 5 – Monday, September 3, 9:00am
    Round 6 – Monday, September 3, 3:00pm or ASAP

    Tournament Director: Brian Davidson

    ENTRY FEE

    Single Entry: $70
    Family Rate: Parent Pays Full Rate, Children Pay Just $15 each
    Free Entry for Players Rated 2300 or above.

    PRIZES

    Minimum Prize Fund is being guaranteed at $2000, with generous prizes for Best Under 2000 rated player, Best Under 1700 rated player and biggest upset! All levels welcome! Please contact us if you wish to be a sponsor.

    REGISTRATION

    Please mail cheques (payable to The Langley Chess Club, c/o Hugh Long) to: 23810- 52 Ave, Langley, B.C. V2Z 2P3. On-site registration: Saturday, September 1, 9:15 am to 9:50 am . Or you can securely pay online using your credit card below (Paypal account is NOT needed)

    MISCELLANEOUS

    CFC rated, half-point byes may be requested for all but the last round. Please bring sets, boards and clocks.

    This tournament (the 7th Annual Langley Chess Club Open) is a qualifier for the 2012 BC Closed Championships. The winner of the Langley Chess Club Open will qualify, and in the event of a tie, there will be no playoff. Instead, the winner will be deemed to be the person with the highest cumulative score

        The tournament now has 45 pre-registered players which is a new record for participation!

        It's shaping up to be a very interesting tournament, with two previous Langley Open winners, a strong middle section, and an encouraging number of juniors taking part this year.

          Hi everyone! Last post by me until the tournament is over. We now have 49 pre-registered players, bypassing our previous record turnout by a good margin, with hopes of some last minute entries as well.

              Your pairings show only 50 of the 60 entries. I think the bottom 5 boards are missing.

                  It's been a very interesting tournaments, with a number of upsets at all levels. There are a lot of new names at the top. Will a past champion come through again, or will we have a new name? Tune in tomorrow night to find out.
