  • Olympiad - Sudan-Botswana match

    Saw this on the Web:

"The Sudan-Botswana match in the final round of the Olympiad may have set various records - the four games had a total of 450 moves (146, 101, 111, 92), and it included three of the last six games to finish of the 300 or so played in the round.

Both the Sudanese losses were due to endgame errors: Adam on Board 3 had R+B v R+P, lost the bishop, could still have drawn but didn't; Abdalsalam on Board 1 could have claimed a draw under the 50-move rule instead of exchanging queens into a lost pawn ending. OTOH, Boikanyo could have won his R+P v R ending on Board 2."
