  • Ottawa RA Rodgers Memorial

The Rodgers Memorial is the major Fall tournament at Ottawa's RA Chess Club. This year saw 31 participants. The ultimate winner is a newcomer to Ottawa but not to chess, Vasil Khachidze, who has returned to the game after a five-year hiatus. Vasil was a candidate master in his home country of Georgia. With 5.5 of a possible 7 points, Khachidze upset the rising young star, Aman Hambleton, in the last round to take the trophy and book prize. In second place on 5 points were the redoubtable Bill Doubleday and Chris Spicer. Hambleton tied for fourth with Kevin Pacey and Halldor Palsson at 4.5. Tournament director was Stijn de Kerpel. Further details can be found on the CFC website.

Do, or do not. There is no ‘try’.
