  • Aurora CC - opened

After scaring thoughts that only three of us would meet a Mayor of Aurora, we were overwhelmed by crowds :D From all corners of the York region players came to move pawns and kings on 64 squares. At one moment all fifteen boards were occupied by young and old, women and men, beginners and masters.

Of course there will a longer official press release posted on the club's webpage. I'll will contribute with pictures of yummy chess chocolate :D

See you the next Monday at a chess-friendly Aurora High School.

    PS.
Chess-friendly - I was amazed that a school pictures' gallery had several chess-themed drawings.

More than 30 players on the maiden voyage, a very good sign of things to come for Aurora. I talked to some of the parents, they came from as far away as Barrie, Nobleton, Richmond Hill but also across the street. In any case it's good for the younger crowd and the parents. They really went for the cookies & chocolate chess pieces... wasn't a crumb left!

The first official move 1 e4 and the club wins :)

It takes three chess photographers to take a picture of one game :D

                Games begin

Finally what you really missed :p
