  • looking for help before I hit my laptop ;)

When I go to a thread that has new posts, how do I ensure that the next time I come in (let's say in an hour AND in reality there have been NO new posts in that thread since the last time I looked), that the thread still doesn't appear on the main page as having new posts? The individual box in front of the new post has gone from orange to light blue, but I only find that out when I've been "tricked" by the main page to click on it for new posts.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can think of. It's probably something simple?!

Try to login and click F5 (refresh, reload). It could be that you see not the current page version but loaded from your computer memory (guess).

    addendum:
Probably the page shows threads with unread messages, not 'new posts', thus you must read them...

I've noticed that, some of the time. One option is when you're done reading all the posts you want to read, there is a "Mark forum read" at the bottom of the individual forums, or on the main display "Mark all forums read" which will wipe out all new post indications.

It's on vBulletins bugs-to-fix list apparently.

Thanks, I didn`t realise I had to open a new window. This forum certainly is a lot of work.

Well, I mean, a new drop down menu, or whatever you call it. I use vbulletin in a couple of other (non-chess) sites, and so I am not too fazed by this board. I hope Larry (or whoever) makes a decision fairly soon.
