  • Aurora CC (ON) - first rapid

The last night we ran a rapid event to get players in to a competitive mood with 15 min time control per side. Over the course total 30 people joined to hear ticking clocks. Yes, we had analog noisy too :D

Junior Chen Yuan Zhang wiped all with a perfect score 5/5. Well done. He was followed by seniors Micky Stein, Bernie Prost, and Radu Lupan with 4/5. (Yours truly needed to sneak out for two rounds... 3/3)

    Several moments of the event

The future champion fights with Jerry in the final round. He just pushed a pawn to e5.

Against Micky. A junior showed a knowledge of the endgame. OK. It was easy with a passed pawn :)

    A hall

The full crosstable and a view from an arbiter's point will be published in two days on the club's website.

A casual chess is scheduled for next Monday.

When Aurora will grow to a size of Toronto, we will be ready to host as any players as the Scarborough CC :D

It is a multi use hall at school.

          Hi Egis:

Bob Gillanders just e-mailed me in a panic to tell you that what you meant to say was " as the Mississauga CC ". LOL

No, no. I think we already surpassed their regular members count.

First we take Mississauga, then we take Toronto (according to a newly found lyric's sketch :D

I notice a LOT of empty tables. If you want to fill the place up run a Seniors Bingo Night at the same time in the empty part of the hall. :)

Thanks Gary... that wouldn't have crossed my mind, we'll consider that.

It is a high school cafeteria and a concert hall. One night it was full of chairs, other full of tables.

Look there is a special space for you in a balcony to watch my simul on December 17 :D

This hall looks like it could easily host a Canadian Open in a typical year!

                      Tell Graeme expectations are high.

Kevin Pacey is starting a rumour that Aurora CC may bid on the 2014 Canadian Open!!
