Today is a significant day in the world calendar: 12/12/12 - one of the triple headers. As such, it may be a good day to discuss the efforts of the CCC!
CCC Discusses Chess – Posts of Interest – Chess: Revolution or Reform?
Q: Is CCC just tilting at windmills and wasting its time and effort? Ordinary chess players are not interested in chess administration, and attempted “ reform “ will come to nothing. If anything is to be accomplished, isn’t “ revolution “ the only answer?

A: CCC holds that the chess culture is very dictatorial, individualistic and non-cooperative. But it also believes there is no “ quick fix “; nor is any “ revolution “ around the corner ( and even if there were, it is not clear it could solve the fundamental problems ). CCC’s expectations are modest – it believes in incremental reform ( not very sexy ), with public support being gained for each change – changes need to be democratically supported. And it believes that if individual chess players understand the benefit of the change, they do become interested in chess administration, and will support reform. Incremental progress is both real, and what may be achievable at the time. CCC aims to promote discussion on chess reform at all levels, and to support “ reform action “ where there is sufficient ordinary chess player support.
Q: Do you believe CCC’s incremental reform strategy is reasonable? Do you see CCC as being able to bring about any change for the better?
