  • A Reason to Watch the Toronto Raptors

Smile has returned to fans of the Toronto Raptors. After a dismal 4 wins and 19 loses, I declared to my family that I will move on to cheer the Brooklyn Nets…until Alan Andersson returned to the team.
It seems that Andersson, a three point specialist, a tenacious defender and a team player, sparked the team to its 5th straight wins. It is a joy to watch him play. And putting Andersson during the critical stretch of the game is a no brainer.
Together with the high flying Terrence Ross (rookie), Linus Kleiza, the resurgent Calderon, Demar DeRozan and Lucas, Andersson provides a 6 man 3 point threat.
Five straight wins!!!! Even without Bargnani, Lowry? Wow, this is a big turn around.
Of course, Jonas Valenciunas (rookie from Lithuania), Amir Johnson and Ed Davis controlling the boards, the Raptors are finally devouring other teams. But let’s wait and see how they fare against the big guns.
At least, the Raptors are now capable of beating other teams…..

If the Raptors keep winning with this lineup they'll have to make some decisions when Bargnani and Lowry are ready to return. Lowry is a decent player but he doesn't seem to be getting as many assists as Calderon. In his last 4 games Calderon has been average more than 10 assists with treys and a decent FG average. Playing more than 30 minutes per game.

Bargnani hasn't been getting many rebounds for a forward/center. His FG percentage could be higher and his points per game have dropped this season.

Valenciunas will be out for awhile with his broken finger but he didn't play many minutes. He may have been having a hard time holding on to his starting position.

See, I know almost as much about sports statistics as a bag of fleas. :)

Ever since CB departed i have lost almost total interest in the Raps...AB will be traded this season-hopefully soon-he is useless and hurt too often. Unfortunately, the Spanish guy Calderon is too good not to be traded-trade him now for something or someone real good-he will command that.

Also, the Raps need a new conditioning Coach-for the last few years their weakness is really apparent with 5-10 minutes left in the game.... anyways that is my 5 cents worth .......

With the Raptors game a day away vs the San Antonio Spurs, Christmas day schedule of games is full of interesting games.
        • At the moment is the New York Knicks vs the Los Angeles Lakers 49-51. The return of Canadian star player Steve Nash has sparked the Lakers into easy scoring opportunities. Metta World Peace = Ron Artest = scored from rainbow country 3 out of 4 shots to enable the Lakers to take a 2 point lead at half time.
        • The Oklahoma Thunders vs the Miami Heats is coming next. Games are broadcast live, not in Monroi, but in TSN channel 26. This game could be the preview to the NBA Finals. Lebron James (Reigning NBA MVP) vs Kevin Durant.
        • So with a lot of Popcorns, food and drinks on the table, Christmas day is so enjoyable. Laso save energy for the Boxing Day shopping for tomorrow.
        • Boxing Day shopping list includes the Hammer Drill which i need to renovate by basement.

@Mr. Ruben - it is nice to know that Chess players also like basketball. Merry Christmas.

@ Mr. John Henry ( Senior CMA Chess Instructor): We will soon see a new frnachise player for the Raptors. Sad to admit but CB made the correct decision. CB has the champions ring.... Merry Christmas.

Thank you. And a Merry Christmas to you.

If DeRozan can keep scoring and pick up a few steals the Raps will have a chance.

Rudy Gay's arrival to the Raptors bench has been the source of excitement these last few days. Gya provides a super scoring threat and defense on the perimeter. Still, i would not balance Gay with Calderon and Davis. I see it as a Queen vs Rook and bishop.
I would prefer Bargnani to be traded.

Speaking of earning, here is the salary of the Raptors team.

Re: A Reason to Watch the Toronto Raptors

How'd you like my super bowl pick? They turned out the lights to cool the Ravens off.

I think Gay gives the Raptors a real good small forward. Someone who'll get people to tune in the games. He'll play a lot of minutes and put up points. Amir Johnson will complement his at power forward.

They are paying Lowry big money to play point guard and they likely want more minutes from him than simply sharing with Calderon. I think they got maximum value for Calderon. Lowry plays a nice game but I'd like to see him pick up the number of assists he gets. DeRozan is our shooting guard and will likely get a raise when his contract is up.

Center might be bit of a problem. Bargnani might be a bit of a problem trading. I think he makes around 10 Mill and who wants him? He's been out for awhile. Maybe they figure to go with Gray while they try to bring Valancuinas along. With the amount they are paying him they pretty much have to give him some minutes and will likely expect more from him next season.

              Anyhow, that's my take.
