  • Canadian Junior - in the event of a tie for first place

Playoffs will begin as soon as the players are known.

If 2 players tie for first there will be one play-off game. Time control will be 30 minutes per player plus 30 second increment. Colour will alternate from what they had against each other in the tournament. If the game is drawn, another game will be played with 15 minutes per player plus 30 second increment. Colours reversed. If drawn, 10 minutes plus 30 second increment.

If 3 players tie for first, the "Bevand" system of playoffs will be held with an initial playoff time control of 20 minutes per player plus 30 second increment. The Bevand tie break system for a 3-way tie is used in the Ontario, Quebec and Canadian Chess Challenge every year and maybe...for the first time ever... at the Canadian Junior:).

No playoffs will be held for other spots.

i am an adamant non-fan of that playoff system
everytime it hurts, it hurts just like the first (and then you cry till there's no more tears)

Can the 3 playoff games be played simultaneously!? A triangle setup.
