Thanks Erwin for announcing our speed tournament.
I want to assure all that we are not selling cosmetics, handbags, or any of that other crap on that previous post. Which hopefully the board administrators will delete soon, when everyone will scratch their heads and wonder what I am talking about.

Is there nothing we can do to keep those a**** posters off the board?

Anyway, we are selling club memberships. We kick off the new year with our speed tournament. This is a great opportunity for new members to join, or old acquaintances to renew. The club is sponsoring the prize fund of $200 and there is no entry fee. The catch, you have to be club member. But what a bargain, adult membership is $35/ year. With the club open 49 weeks a year for 3 hours a week, that's just 24 cents per hour! Plus you have the chance to start the year off with a little bonus. Last year, 10 people shared in that prize fund.

        What's the $200 prize distribution?
        How many rounds?
Is the time control 5 minutes SD (without increment)?

          HI Rene,

The $200 is the guarnateed contribution of the MCC to the prize fund.
Last year, a $ 10 entry fee from 21 players was collected and was matched by MCC, totalling $420.
This was divided by the committee to include winners from lower rated groups = to make it fun for all.

There were 7 rounds - one game only.

Time control is 5 minutes -SD.

There is no entry fee for the speed tournament tomorrow. You just need to be a club member. Club sponsors the $200 prize fund.

Last year, the $10 entry fee was for the Viktar Chupyrs Memorial tournament. It was an optional fee which the club matched.

              And the winner is .......

Razvan Preotu with a perfect score of 7 out of 7.

His trophy will be awarded in the AGM in December.

His former coach, Mikhail Egorov, also took part.

The second and third place went to Owen Qian and Thair Sabbagh.

Thanks to Rene Preotu for assisiting in the efficient running of the tournament, helping Shanklar Balakrisnan, who is the TD.

And also to the MCC Officials ( Bob "Nakamura" Gillanders, Paul Roschman, Vincent Chow) for making it a fun night.
