    Battle of Toronto II

    The Battle of Toronto Invitational

From Oct. - Dec., 2012, Canadian Chess Consulting Service ( CCCS ), a company owned and operated by Bob Armstrong, organized the very successful FIDE Rating Round Robin tournament ( 8-player ), The Battle of Toronto Invitational. There were 5 FIDE-rated players, and 3 non-FIDE rated players. Two of the non-FIDE rated players were successful in getting a “ FIDE Part Result “, and so are now on the path to getting a published FIDE rating; the other non-FIDE player ( Bob Armstrong ) was able to complete his 9 FIDE-rated games in 2 years criterion, and so obtained his first published FIDE rating with the FIDE Jan. 1/13 Regular Rating List. All players agreed it was a most enjoyable tournament, hosted at the Annex Chess Club in downtown Toronto.

    Battle of Toronto II

CCCS was asked if they would run a second tournament in the Winter/Spring of 2013. We have agreed, and so now attach the flyer for " Battle of Toronto II ". It will run from Feb. 25 to April 15 ( with two additional make-up weeks if needed ). It will again be at the Annex CC. The registration fee for this 7 round tournament is $ 80. Annex CC members get a $ 10 discount, thanks to Annex CC assistance. Time Control is Game/90 + 30 sec.. Please review the flyer below for all details.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to inquire.

We note that registrations close Friday, Jan. 25 ( we must register the tournament one month in advance with FIDE ).

Re: Registration Deadline - Battle of Toronto II - A FIDE Rating Round-Robin

ONLY 4 more days to register - registration closes @ 6:00 PM on Friday, Jan. 25.

Also, I'd point out that the Battle of Toronto II tournament is a very economical tournament. 7-9 round tournaments in Canada cost approx. $ 30/round. 5 round weekend tournaments generally cost $ 15/ round.

The Battle II round robin of 7 rounds costs only a bit more than $ 10/round. Registration Fee is only $ 80! And Annex CC members get a $ 10 discount. And in addition, if you are not FIDE-rated, you may get a head-start on getting a published FIDE rating.

All in all, a good deal!

Rescheduled to Fall, 2013 - Battle of Toronto II

            Battle of Toronto II Rescheduled

Canadian Chess Consulting Service ( CCCS ), organizer of the tournament, has only managed to get 3 of 8 registrations needed to go ahead with our FIDE rating round robin, Battle of Toronto II.

But we have been told by some potential registrants that the 2013 Winter/Spring ( Feb. – April ) is more difficult for them than the Fall ( Oct. – Nov. ).

So we are rescheduling the tournament for now, to Fall 2013 ( Oct. – Nov. ).

We will also try to improve some to the terms of the tournament for the rescheduling. Look for new advertising for it in mid-August.

Thanks to those who considered playing. We hope to see you register for the Fall tournament – we will give you priority fixed entry if you re-enter.
