    Re: Kitchener-Waterloo Riedstra Memorial Open

Players might be wondering whether or not the organizers were able to repeat a booking of their tournament for the so-called "spring forward" weekend again (they did - so be forewarned!). Because the first round also gets going shortly before 10am on the day before the 23 hour day, players might wish to be reminded about a modified registration time from previous years.

A few club executive members are likely to arrive fairly early to set up tables, etc - and players from out of town might wish to double-check what the good parking lot rates are for each day.

Is there anyone going from Toronto who's going to this tourney by car? If yes, would carpooling be an option?

I'm not sure where everyone is from so I'm not much help but car pooling would definitely help cut costs.

Maybe you can put up your own thread on Chesstalk and see if you can find someone to car pool with?

              Re: Kitchener-Waterloo Riedstra Memorial Open

Pairings of players from the top section in round 3 went:

              Round 3 pairings

              Andrew Peredun vs Bator Sambuev,
              Geordie Derraugh vs Razvan Preotu,
              Michael Song vs Thair Sabbagh,
              Konstantin Semianiuk vs Alex Ferreira,
              Avinaash Sundar vs Jackie Peng,
              Mike Ivanov vs Neal Pan,
              Yinshi Li vs Steve Demmery,
              Agastya Kalra vs Andre Zybura,
              Tony Bohan Bao vs Joey Zhong;
Byes: Gord Olheiser, Hans Jung, Damir Miletic

No games were done by the time that I got home to prepare for spring forward. With any luck, someone else might be able to report the tentative 4th round pairings or 3rd round results in the other 2 sections as well. Anyways, that's what this year's Riedstra top section is shaping towards. Good night!

Re: Kitchener-Waterloo Riedstra Memorial Open Results

This year we had 81 participants. There were a couple of bumps in the road with pairings and byes, but other than that, everything went quite smoothly. Nevertheless, we did have a few long games and with Daylight Savings, it was close to 1:00 am when I got home Sunday morning, so even though I originally had good intentions, fourth round pairings did not get posted. Maybe next time.

Thanks for posting the results promptly.

I don't know what pairing progam you are using, but most (all?) programs can dump results to html, which makes it easy to post final standings, crosstables, whatever.

I have a copy of SwissSys but I needed to re-register [registration expired] so instead of waiting, I forged ahead and did what I could quickly.

Thanks. The pics were rushed [only took pics in the first five minutes of the game] and some should have been redone. But such is life!
