The title doesn't tell me what the lecture is about... Please elaborate?

      Hello Andy,

I couldn't tell you, but the title seems suggestive enough. I presume it will be about chess ideas and not random stuff like pyramid schemes or identify theft.

IM Peter Vavrak will be the one elaborating, for those who come to the lecture. I am looking forward to it myself.

wish I saw this earlier... now it's too late to prepare pyramid schemes :)

It might be about some ideas and typical motives and how one finds (or misses) them in his/her own games... we'll see.

Great lecture tonight by IM Peter Vavrak. First chess lecture I have attended in many years and how things have changed for the better. Back in the old days we would stumble with the demo board and maybe get through 3 or 4 games. Now, Peter, showed us the equivalent of about 10 games using his PC and an overhead projector.. Some classics, but, mostly his own games. Peter kept the lecture interactive, instructive and entertaining. It was sad to see him not get his final GM norm, but such is life.

Thanks also to Alex for organizing the event and I look forward to more lectures at Hart House in the future. 30 years ago, when I ran the club for 4 years, we always had a lecture series of 4 masters. Hopefully Hart House brings other speakers. Lawrence Day always gave fabulous lectures back in the day.

              Hi,

Definitely a real treat! Quite an instructive lecture by Peter Vavrak, and kudos for entertaining the crowd and answering various questions at the end.

We normally have a couple lectures a year by chess professionals, but have only recently opened it up to the community. Hopefully we'll do more :-)
Thanks Peter for setting up the standard,

              Alex Ferreira
