  • The Biggest Sandal in Canadian Chess History

As a starting point I'll put forward my size 13s.

I can match that and in addition mine are EEE. But sadly perhaps, they are not from Kingston.

I don't have any sandals, but my trail shoes are size 10½ 6E width. My weight has caused my feet to spread.

        Zeljko,

Didn't you state they are from Tripoli??

They are from Crete, where they practically invented the public sandal, in ancient times.

Hi Zeljko, how much did you pay for your sandals? - and can you translate in Canadian dollars? In case you are wondering I am serious - Im thinking of travelling there and getting some.

I once occasionally wore Birkenstock sandals for foot problems, but have long since worn orthotics inside other types of footware.

Can't recall my sandals' size, but my shoe size is 11. :)

It wasn't much, probably under 20 euros which is the equivalent of $26 CDN. There is a wide range of styles though, some are just so you don't burn your feet at the beach and other more elaborate. There is actually one famous sandal maker in Athens. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEljV1KuG_g
If you are going I don't suggest more than a day or two in Athens and then get yourself to the islands, any island.

Hey thanks. When I first started in chess in London there was a legendary (and crusty) old master Dr. Theodor Ackerman. He used to run around in bare feet with good sandals even in mid winter and claimed the good circulation even helped his thinking abilities. I never went that far (mid winter) but my oldie goldie sandals finally wore out on me and I cant afford Birkenstocks.

Oh... I thought EEE meant Tripoli :D

I once saw Shaquille O'Neal playing a friendly game of chess against one of his LA Laker teammates. He wears a size 22 or 23. I'd say that would be the world's biggest chess sandal...
