Svidler: . “Somehow, I’m less marketable than Magnus. I’m somewhat less young, and somewhat more Soviet.”

elsewhere in article: But in large part because of the companies — a Norwegian law firm, an investment bank, a Norwegian newspaper — whose logos decorate the blazers and shirts he wears in official appearances, golf-pro style, Carlsen earned about $1.2 million last year, some 60 percent to 70 percent of it from sponsorship deals, said Agdestein, his manager.

me: Earth to Svidler, yes you are Russian and Norweigan corporations are not going to rush out to sponsor you. But perhaps someone else would like to be associated with the number 14 player and market you as the world's oldest child prodigy.

Norway has a large oil bonanza. No shortage of Petro Euros.
