I think that's what they call it an auction league in fantasy baseball but here there's no one else competing for the same players so in essence, forming a good team is completely in the power of the user. I do wonder how they calculated the prices on the players though. I assume it must be computer generated odds.

This exciting idea has the potential to significantly help chess compete for more attention, in its ongoing competition with other pastimes, or sports. Brings an attractive element of greater unpredictability to our game, for those who wish to gamble (and there may be many, even among casual fans/observers). It may not be too surprising if this sort of betting formula hasn't been used already, at least sporadically, out of the public eye, for a long time. Bets on high level matches are certainly not unprecidented.

Well that remains to be seen. Will need some big performances from some of the lower rated players to win, but I figured I'd need tons of luck to win regardless.

Was tied for 2nd, a half point back, heading into the games today but most of the lower rated players performed as they were expected and I ended up with very few points and won't win.

Anyone else do better?
