In case it isn't clear, for players who plan to pay onsite, sending me an email beforehand will save you $20 ($75 vs. $95)! And for players who want to pay the lowest $55 fee (by snail mail ASAP, or at the RA club this Thursday evening), please feel free to send me an email, so that I can update the pre-registered lists every few days. This might seem trivial to some, but some potential players consider these lists very thoroughly.

Are sections sometimes combined (Masters and U2200 for example) if there aren't enough players?

I would much rather keep 4 separate sections. I recall from the last Ontario Open in Ottawa, that many of the titled players (free entry) did not pre-register. If they would by email, I could probably declare 4 separate sections within a few hours. Anyway, within a few days, I will confirm how many sections we will have. I am expecting 4, but if by some small chance we have to go with 3, then players rated over 2200 could just ask for their money back. If multiple IMs/GMs do not pre-register, and just show up onsite, then I am open to eliminating all free entries at future weekenders that I TD.

I will next be updating the pre-registered list after hitting the mailbox this Monday.

Probably, you should set a "free entry" deadline. One or two weeks in advance.

I have been informed that the CFC is working through some rating miscalculations from earlier this week. Therefore, we still need to determine which ratings snapshot we use to section players in the tournament starting tomorrow. I will keep you posted as to the progress of this rating fix-up. Until then, I am aiming to hit the mailbox after lunchtime today, and then re-post the registration lists here, by supper time today. If you have not registered and paid by then, then you are switching to onsite payment.

If you email me later than that, or not at all, then it will be $95 cash onsite tomorrow. In both cases, to guarantee a Swiss pairing, please plan to pay BEFORE 11am tomorrow. The first round will be starting at noon.

Registrations are still coming in, and I have not yet finished processing all the payments received in the mail today. I also have to leave for work in a few minutes, so the next pre-registration lists will be posted later tonight, and almost certainly before midnight.

Note that there has been a glitch in the rating system, that the CFC office is working furiously to resolve. The challenge for us heading into this weekend's event is that the corrections will probably only be partially completed by the time we are taking onsite registrations. Therefore, it will be difficult to pick the perfect "fair moment" to snapshot the ratings database for our use. After thought and discussion with the CFC office, we have decided to use the "tdlist" from Wednesday, including the FIDE ratings as included therein. This decision might not be be perfectly relatively just for everyone, but as it is an arbitrary snapshot, it will avoid (at least, it SHOULD, lol, avoid) any accusations of favoritism. I am in regular communication with the CFC office until the ratings database is fully caught up corrected. If this happens by midnight, and a new "tdlist" is built, and if I still have the stamina, I'll recheck every rating and repost again before going to bed.

Until I post the latest pre-registration lists in a few hours, just a reminder that the only remaining registration options (for at least Joey/Curtiss/Robert/Billy, I got yours in time for the early-bird $55) involve onsite payment.
