  • Best Canadian Chess Quotes of 2008

My favorite quotes from 3 Canadian talk sites last year:

While failure to follow the rules may have led to Tyranny in the past (although the CFC is hardly The Holy Roman Empire!!)

    David Lavin
    CFC President
    International Arbiter

When I was 'wronged' by the CFC I was certainly not silent!...A friend of mine who followed what had happened joked that at least one of the 'c's in CFC was for 'corruption'. The 'f' is undoubtedly 'fraud', and the other 'c' is probably for chess!

I agree, FIDE should be sidelined as irrelevent. These petty dictators need to be shown that there's a limit to what they can do!

vlad dobrich first recalling how he answered inquiries comparing spassky and fischer in 1972. he said:

"Here we are standing at the foot of a 200 foot cliff and as we look up we see two men standing overhead. One is six feet tall the other is 6 feet 1 inch. You tell me who is taller."

    priceless.

      Isn't that a quote from 1972 though? I think it's disqualified :)

      Still cool, though.

You just need a good rest and sleep before a tournament to get back at your peak performance. Tell me if i am wrong if you will not sleep the whole night and play chess the next day, you will be playing like a 1000 rated player. but if are fully rested, you can even play at the level of a grandmaster, right?

everytime it hurts, it hurts just like the first (and then you cry till there's no more tears)

Not sure if it was FIRST used in 2008, but "Resign, moron" is always handy...
I believe it has been attributed to Kevin Spraggett
...Mike Pence: the Lord of the fly.
