Why is the time control so short? G/60 + 30 is nothing more than a glorified rapid game, in my opinion. A tournament like this that has some prestige associated with it and doesn't have "Rapid" in the title should have a time control that allows for some long thinks and properly played endgames. Given that the tournament will (presumably) be of the one game per week format, there's simply no excuse for such a short time control. Why not at least use the 40/90 G/30+30 that FIDE has listed in the handbook?

Similar question was answered by Michael Barron:

"Unfortunately, we have only 3 hours playing session - 90 minutes for each player, and such time control is unacceptable for FIDE-rated tournament."

If any the chess club or place have a possibility and willingness to organize with a longer time control, they are more than welcome to submit their bid.
