Mona Fortier on X: "Our policies are already hard at work! Gas prices are already coming down, and we're putting more money back in Canadians' pockets. Canadian families can trust that a #Liberal government will make life more affordable and bring down the cost of living, starting at the pump ⛽️ https://t.co/cS0tj7EWIP" / X

Mona Fortier on X: "Good news #OttawaVanier ! Starting today, Ontarian families can expect to see an extra 255$ deposited into their bank accounts. The Canada Carbon Rebate is putting more money back into the pockets of 8 out of 10 Canadians, while reducing carbon emissions. https://t.co/Tq4oWwa0Q3" / X

Liberals a few weeks ago: "The carbon tax is amazing. Most of you are richer because of rebates."
Liberals now: "The carbon tax is gone. You are richer because of its removal."

The Liberal Party is to Canada what an abusive person is to their victim:

"I've stopped beating you. Aren't you going to thank me?"
Amazingly, millions of people appear to be ready to do so.

The Liberal government, through the Prime Minister, just reaffirmed their policy commitment to the Carbon Tax, and net zero.

The Liberals are not that smart, Bob. The Carbon tax was the only sensible measure which they took in their entire recent tenure, but for the sake of 'votes' (which you love so much yourself!), gave it up... That is the problem with Democracy, Bob, so calling your Marxism 'democratic Marxism' does not make it any better....

    Hi Bob,

    Interesting.

On his website: Mark Carney presents plan for change on consumer carbon tax

"Halifax, Nova Scotia – Today [Note: it does not appear to have a date], Mark Carney presented a climate policy that will bring Canadians together, lower costs for people, grow our economy, and create jobs today and in the future.

“The Consumer Carbon Tax isn’t working—it’s become too divisive. That’s why I’ll cancel it and replace it with incentives to reward people for greener choices”, Mark said.

A Mark Carney-led government will immediately remove the consumer carbon tax and instead, create a system of incentives to reward Canadians for making greener choices, such as purchasing an energy efficient appliance, electric vehicle, or improved home insulation. ..."

Remember when climate change was an existential crisis? Then the Liberals reversed themselves on the carbon tax that they themselves introduced to save us all, and Far Leftists started destroying e-cars, which on the face of it does not appear to be environmentally friendly behaviour. Maybe none of their ideology had anything at all to do with the environment ...

You have correctly stated that there are a whole lot of negative aspects in any political action. Hence an LG has no right to enact any laws or pass any presidential decree... all it can do is enforce the Natural Law. The rest of the society's progress is in the hands of the citizens who function in a very organized 'circles within circles' system...

What Bezos is really saying is: I'm afraid of the loose cannon that is Trump. The media toed the line when the Dems were in charge. Now it looks like they will toe the line with Trump in charge. They defended an open border, unchecked crime, and a senile president in Biden but they never really believed in it. Just as they don't believe in an enforced border, deportations, reduced crime, rooting out government corruption, now but it is best to leave sleeping dogs lie particularly when the are particularly surly like this big dog.

Jake Tapper co-wrote a book about Biden's cognitive decline. He figured it out only five or six years after a number of people on this website. He would have learned about it quicker if he had spent his time, instead of spreading dis/misinformation, doing some investigative journalism.
He actively was part of the cover-up. They had a clip where he shut Lara Trump down while bringing up Joe Biden's decline circa 2021 or so. The left fortunately has learned nothing from their humbling in the 2024 election. They are doubling down on all the things that lost them the election. Now they are complaining about the transparency in the DOGE revelations of government corruption, waste and profligate spending.

Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos has some thoughts:

"I shared this note with the Washington Post team this morning: I’m writing to let you know about a change coming to our opinion pages. We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets. We’ll cover other topics too of course, but viewpoints opposing those pillars will be left to be published by others.

There was a time when a newspaper, especially one that was a local monopoly, might have seen it as a service to bring to the reader’s doorstep every morning a broad-based opinion section that sought to cover all views. Today, the internet does that job. I am of America and for America, and proud to be so. Our country did not get here by being typical. And a big part of America’s success has been freedom in the economic realm and everywhere else. Freedom is ethical — it minimizes coercion — and practical — it drives creativity, invention, and prosperity.

I offered David Shipley, whom I greatly admire, the opportunity to lead this new chapter. I suggested to him that if the answer wasn’t “hell yes,” then it had to be “no.” After careful consideration, David decided to step away. This is a significant shift, it won’t be easy, and it will require 100% commitment — I respect his decision. We’ll be searching for a new Opinion Editor to own this new direction. I’m confident that free markets and personal liberties are right for America. I also believe these viewpoints are underserved in the current market of ideas and news opinion. I’m excited for us together to fill that void.

    Jeff"

This is all fallout from Trump winning and I for one welcome this change.
