CANADIAN YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP on Sat Nov 30, 2013
at Woburn C.I., 2222 Ellesmere Rd, Scarborough, just east of Markham Rd.

This Friday, Nov 22, is the last day to email entries - although it is very helpful if you can do that as soon as you know that you plan to play!
Registered so far: U18 -5 ; U16 - 4 ; U14 - 4 ; U12 - 3 ; U10 - 4 ; U8 - 3 - We have posted entries as of 17 Nov at www.ohscc.on.ca ; we shall update the posting on Sun 24 Nov, and email all registered with final details.

This tournament is open to all students who will be under 18 years old on Jan 1, 2014. There are separate sections * for those Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, and Under 18.
* NEW THIS YEAR: We have reduced the tournament to 5 rounds. As long as we can get at least 12 players in each age group, we'll run 6 separate tournaments.

We'll update by Nov 24, showing the final set-up.
ENTRIES ARE GROWING STEADILY IN ALL SECTIONS. It is helpful if your are pretty sure that you will play that you enter as soon as you can.
The deadline for entries by post in: postmarked by Fri Nov 15.
The deadline to enter by email is Fri Nov 22 -- we need a week to complete the final arrangements for the tournament.
Parents and teachers are welcome, but it’s also okay for students to attend on their own, with their parents’ permission.
We will have several adults and a lot of senior students supervising the event.
Students need to bring a packed lunch. We’ll also have pizza and juice / water on sale ($5 for 2 slices &1 drink; $3 single slice & 1 drink).
All chess equipment (sets, boards, and clocks) will be provided by the Ontario Chess Association.
Scoresheets and pencils for recording moves will also be provided.
From this event, the top player in each age group will have the entry fee (approx $75) paid for the Ontario Youth Chess Championship.
For all age groups with at least 4 girls, we shall ensure that the top girl also has is awarded a prize.
NEW: All players with a score of 2 1/2 or more out of 5 will qualify to play in the CYCC in Montréal.
WE SHALL BUY A CFC MEMBERSHIP for all qualifiers who register for the CYCC by 1 June 2014.
