    The process should be renamed "Studs and Duds". Not only do you need to pick the right players and have them accept, but they have to be put in the right board order. The team captain also has to be top quality.

    Placings within the top 10 can come down to intangibles and the luck of the draw in a Swiss format.

    I still remember how we used to decide some of our CC teams. One of the teams won a correspondence Olympiad Bronze medal. Jean Hebert played board 1 on that team as I recall.

      No, but here's a Top Ten List for consideration by David Letterman:

      Top Ten Reasons For Not Sponsoring A National Chess Olympiad Team
      =================================================================

      10. Not enough viewers can follow how the horsey piece moves.

      9. No cheerleaders, no tailgating, and no accidents at 200+ mph sending tires into the stands

      8. The National Jigsaw Puzzle Solving Olympiad Team means at least you get to see a pretty picture.

      7. "Bindi Cheng" cheating technique is now widespread: using twerking to encode moves.

      6. Viewers turn away when even the Junior players look like senior citizens.

      5. Chess forum threads on Anthropogenic Global Warming expose top chess players being just as stupid as everyone else.

      4. Slow motion replay of someone playing a chess move doesn't leave enough commercial time.

      3. Chess Boxing really DOES have blood on the board!

      2. Nobody in chess ever says "I'm all in."

      and the Number One Reason for Not Sponsoring a National Olympiad Chess Team...

      1. Live strip search of Victor Korchnoi... good luck getting that image out of your mind

              Maybe it's your first name: "Bindi". It's kind of like "Ringo" Starr. Just the name "Ringo" means everybody has to love you! Same with "Bindi"!

              I think you should go with that: at every public appearance, flash the "V" peace sign with both hands, and a big smile. You'll be the world's most beloved chess player.

              By the way, you should have put "LMTAO" (T = Twerking)
