Oops. That conflicts with Niagara Falls Open.

      Hi Bob,

Thanks for the events to be held at Mississauga site. Looks like April is full of tournaments which in a way a very healthy development for chess in Canada.

I guess we will have to look at the time table of the events taking place in April to June.

      Cheers !

        Hi Bob / Francis,

I still hope that there will be a website which list down all the tournaments be it CMA or CFC rated tournaments. Benefits as below :

        1. Conflicts of tournament may be minimized.
        2. Players would be able to get all the information from one website. Right now, you have to either go to chess.ca or chess and math website or chess talk.
        3. If there are tournaments held on the same date and is reflected in the same website, players will have the information on hand and to make the decision accordingly.
        4. I am sure more players will be more inclined to participate with the right advertising and it will be a bonus if the unified website could encourage the players to sign up with them and the players would automatically receive information on the tournaments coming up through e mail just like chesstour.com in US.
        5. If the website could also highlight all the chess clubs in Canada or at least GTA, that will be fantastic. Seems like some of the parents do not know where the chess club exists currently

        Just my 2 cents !!

          5... at least GTA,
One thing that somebody must maintain everything ;)

Google Calendar - https://www.google.com/calendar/embe...dar.google.com (It can shared with other contributors. Let me know if you are interested) [Started as a conflicts avoidance for Aurora Opens LOL Good with Android mobile apps too ]
GTCL website [ http://www.torontochess.org ] has info about all clubs (known to me), also publishes future tournaments.
CFC website/forum also provides possibility to advertise tournaments.
The chesstalk forum [ http://www.chesstalk.info/forum/calendar.php?c=1 ] has a calendar too. Just fill forms.

The problem is not where to post but to get a person (persons) who collect and manage that.

            Hi Egis,

agree with you totally. no doubt about that. I am not good in maintaining website and not good in IT.

Look forward to something you highlight on

                  Hi Bob,

Fantastic ! This is a great start ! Probably your website could be the unified website listing all the tournaments....

The next stage will be to advertise your website and then you should have an option for players/parents to sign up and then your website will automatically send an e mail informing the registrants the upcoming tournaments a week ahead and same time all other tournaments coming up beyond that probably about 3 months ahead ( tournaments ). This is good for parents/players who will have access of the tournaments coming up in ONE website.

In future, if this is a success, one will just either see the e mails that you sent or just refer to your schedule listed in your website.

Great job, Bob. appreciate the time table. I am sure others will be glad. Thanks

                  Gary

                    New announcement :

                    - IM Tomas Krnan joins the fray and the highest ranking in the open section. It will be interesting in the open section with 3 masters fighting and the rising juniors looking forward to have a chance to play against them.
                    - 32 players on the list with 4 more days to go to pre register.. Let's make it past 40
                    - The food court on the ground floor is open on that day so players don't have to worry about having lunch elsewhere.
                    - Snacks and refreshment will be provided so just make sure you bring yourself fresh and fit to do the battle.

                    Cheers

                      New announcement

4 more players added with the count as at 36 players now equally spilt which is fantastic ( refer to pre registered list above )Local boy Thair Sabbagh a 2198 CFC rated is going to have a go at the 3 masters. In the lower section, Michael Huang is the new highest rated player.

2 more days to go before registration ends. $5 will be added on Sunday when you register.

Hopefully we can breach the 40 players mark.

                      Cheers

More than 16 players in a 4 rounds tournament it's not a good thing. You'll end up with 2 players having perfect score without facing each other.
Is it too late to change the format to a 5 rounds rapid (30 minutes)?

                          Re: Missisauga March Standard

                          Hi Rene,

Thanks for highlighting that. I don't think we can change the format to 5 rounds rapid. The original intention is to have a standard rated tournament not a rapid.

If the response is good, we may have more sections to avoid this problem of more than 16 players in the next tournament. Probably Open / U-1900 / U-1400 and an unrated section ( non CFC membership can play )

Wonderful news, hopefully IM Krnan and FM Preotu play in the last round, then I have a chance lol
University and Chess, a difficult mix.

True, I think Accelerated Pairing will be the available option for the last or last 2 rounds just to make sure the top 2 players with equal points face each other at the last round to provide excitement.

You could do accelerated pairings for your First round.
