Looks like Bator Sambuev will win soon - he's a piece up and opponent's king is unsafe. :) :D

Could Andy Shaw be wrong - yet again?

        Back to Olympiad.

Back to Olympiad, we don't produce new players, we have what we have and shouldn't be complying but cheering.

The chances of an upset today, as we approach the 3 hour mark in the games, are excellent. Anton is up a pawn against Naka and Bator has a totally winning/resignable position against Akobian. Eric is worse against Onischuk but if Aman can hold a slightly worse position against Shankland then Canada will win 2.5 to 1.5 (:

It would almost appear that the perpetually top-seeded Russia is trying extra hard to extend their Olympiad drought (:

AFter giving up a draw to the #7 seed, China, yesterday, Russia is about to draw the #18 seed, Bulgaria, today. Kramnik crushed Topalov but Karjakin succumbed to Iotov's Scandinavian (with 3. ...Qd8 in lieu of the much more popular 3. ...Qd6 that Tiviakov plays with such success). Svidler drew and it doesn't appear Nepo is going to do any better.

With Ajerbaijan (8th seed) and Serbia (29th seed!) drawing on board 1 (Shak winning again on board 1 but Radjabov losing on board 2) no country now has a perfect score.

It's not over yet. But yes, we are ensured of at least a 2-2 draw with the United States which has to be considered a success. Excellent showing.

On move 78 Aman turned down an offer to go into an opposite colour bishop endgame 2 pawns down.

Question. If he accepted the offer, could he hold the draw?
