    4. ...d6 it is.

    1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6
Brick walls hurt, but are effective for banging against repeatedly. For future reference, cardboard walls are fun too :)

      Chess Forums moves 5. Nf3

      1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5. Nf3

Any ideas for a 5th move? Castle, e5 immediately, or something like Na6?

I vote for 6...Nc6 - not the computer's first choice, but leads to interesting games.

Certainly, there are obvious lines after 6...e5, as 7.O-O,Nbd7 or 7.O-O,Nc6 8.d5,Ne7 and so on. There are books published with those lines. I use Russian ones. I have to translate them into English first. I wouldn't call them moves made without thinking.

I vote for 6. ...c5. Make use of our fianchettoed bishop and attack White's pawn center.

                            Here's the current tally:

                            e5 - 2 votes
                            c5 - 1 vote
                            Nc6 - 1 vote

Will wait for a few more votes before posting.

                              Hi Alex:

There seem to be no more votes coming in - do you think we therefore have to go with 6...e5, it having the most votes?
