  • Interview from 1967 with Fischer, Korchnoi and Larsen

(an excerpt from Bjelica’s “Grandmasters in Profile”)

    http://www.chessmastery.co.uk/chess-...i-larsen-1967/

One answer I enjoyed immensely (highlight the next few lines to reveal spoiler):

"Bjelica: What would you borrow from various great players. For instance from Botvinnik and Tal?

    Fischer: Money."
...Mike Pence: the Lord of the fly.

    Hi Kerry:

How dare you post something not related to the FIDE or CFC presidency!?!

One thing that struck me, and maybe it's just me, was that Fischer seemed to be very self-centred. I'm somewhat familiar with his withdrawal from the Interzonal, and of course his later reputation, but that particular aspect of Fischer just leapt off the page for me. Larsen came across as being much more personable with a good sense of humour.

P.S. Kerry, the Fischer quote you mention came across as very double-edged to me.
