CBC was present on site today and interviewed Richard Bérubé (FQE Executive director and chief organizer) and Bernard Labadie (FQE President), as well as some of the CYCC participants. The pictures are on our Facebook page (thanks to Victoria Doknjas!) : https://www.facebook.com/fqechecs
Also, we are glad to announce that FM Lefong Hua will be analyzing games (for free) between noon and 2 PM on the first three days of the CYCC. He will obviously only be able to analyze a handful of games every day, but spectators will be most welcome.

Arrival : 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM : Pick up your participation gifts
The tournament hall is on the Convention floor (1st floor)
- Round 1 : 10 AM - Parents are allowed in the room during the first 15 minutes
- Round 2 : 3 PM
July 16-18
- Rounds 3 and 4 : 10 AM and 3 PM, Wednesday, July 16, 2014
- Rounds 5 and 6 : 10 AM and 3 PM, Thursday, July 17, 2014
- Round 7 : 9 AM, Friday, July 18, 2014
Tiebreaks : July 18 at 2 PM
Prize ceremony : July 18 at 4 PM (lots of trophies and prizes for players in their junior year!)
Side events (for CYCC and CO players):
Simultaneous exhibition (10 invited players) : July 18 at 2 PM
Bughouse tournament : July 18 at 6 PM
Other important information :
- Results will be posted on Chess-results.
- If you have any question on site, please see Roman Sarrazin-Gendron (the tallest one in the organizing team). The chief organizer will be Richard Bérubé and the chief arbiter Aris Marghetis, but both will probably be busy. Please note I won't be myself on site before Thursday.
- You can contact us at info@fqechecs.qc.ca or at 514-252-3034, but please do not leave urgent voice messages in the middle of the night or during the weekend.
- There is free wifi in the tournament and analysis rooms (password echecs2014).
