So Grischuk wins the tournament. Kramnik said that he hadn’t expected a Catalan but decided to play sharply. He had played the line once before against Topalov in a rapid game and won. Unfortunately White has the option to repeat moves for a draw. He congratulated Sasha on winning the tournament and said he was in brilliant form.

If I am reading the Russian account correctly, Grischuk showed up for the game 12 minutes late but wasn’t penalized. Nobody else seems to have picked up on this, so let’s not mention it again. Conspiracy of silence. Band of brothers. On to the next tournament!
