    7. Motions
    Motion 1
    New Article:
    441. CFC/FIDE/USCF/FQE Rating Adjustments.
A player who has attained a FIDE, USCF or FQE rating that is 200 or more points higher than his/her CFC rating may request that their CFC rating be adjusted to match their other rating provided that player has played at least 10 games in the other system in the 12 months prior to the request.

    Motion 2
    Addendum to Article 436:
Players with FQE ratings will be treated in the same manner.

    8. POLICY DISCUSSION
    8A Youth Committee/Parents' Council
    8B National Tournaments Committee
    8C Handbook Committee
8D Olympiad Qualification - Should we increase the minimum number of games to qualify? Some have suggested that 40 games over the past two years with the proviso that they be CFC, FIDE or USCF rated play would not be an unreasonable requirement. The reason that we might consider USCF play is that many of our top young players are going to post-secondary schools in the U.S. making it difficult to get in the requisite number of CFC games.

I think you need a new team captain. The last team was made up of good players but they seemed to lack motivation in the later rounds.

The goal should be to finish in the top 50 like we used to do.

One other thing. We non members don't get a chance to ask in the forum but do get to read it so I guess that's why it's mentioned on Chess Talk.

I was reading the financial report for the three months. It makes mention of note numbers for some items. The notes seem to have been omitted. There's also a contribution of $1,800. to the Chess foundation. Is that a donation of surplus cash?

I disagree. I think Victor Plotkin makes a great coach. He seems like a well educated, intelligent, and financially successful individual.

Maybe what the team needs for a team captain is a miserable person who only looks at the bottom line and wants to win more than they do.

You're talking a coach which is something entirely different than a team captain.

They tried that approach a few years ago when they hired Ftacnik as the coach at great expense.

The $1800 is from the sale of life memberships I would suspect. Apparently the notes will come later and haven't been provided in past quarterly reports. The financials are fairly solid again though the receivables are quite high.

I've asked Fred to post the notes - no reply, yet.

I would be interested in seeing a breakdown of the receivables... who collectively can possible owe us that much money?

I thought it was related to CYCC...maybe the $150 per registration fee that the FQE had to remit to the CFC?

Maybe, but CYCC was July, and it's now October. When Windsor organised CYCC in 2010 we remitted the CFC portion a few days after the event. (After I recovered from my hangover.)

I wasn't writing about a coach. Only a team captain.

The team was the best the CFC could get under the current rules. I don't argue that point. All fine players. I expect most of them to qualify for the next team. Maybe after 2 placing out of the top 50 it's time to try a different team captain. Possibly one of the players on the team should be the team captain.

Another idea might be to ask former Olympiad team players, like Pascal and Mark if they would consider playing some events and getting in playing shape to represent us. Excellent players both of them.

The rules should be changed to allow this.

I've helped pick correspondence teams and phoned players to talk them into playing so know how difficult it can be.

These are the financial statements for the quarter ending July 31st and reflected the situation as of that date.

Fred doesn't have the notes so he is not able to provide them. The CYCC/Canadian Open finished July 26th so I expect the organizers of CYCC were still a bit distracted.

Who prepared the statements? The notes are kind of important.

I would wait for the Chess Newsletters to read commentaries from all participants including captains. WHERE IS THE MAGAZINE - JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER? It is more important question for the CFC member than a captain.

So, I gather the treasurer and the rest of the exec did their usual fine job of reviewing the CFC finances.
