So was expecting the Marshall but usually you cannot prepare for Vassily. Qd7 was a novelty by Aronian against Anand in the Candidates 2014. Nf4 equalizes. Anish Giri referred to this sacrifice in NIC. Everyone seems to have seen the analysis but Ivanchuk and Seirawan. Wesley wasn’t expecting to win. The win vaults him to No. 7 in the live ratings.
Nigel Short (tweet) – Poor Chucky. There is nothing worse than losing a theoretical game. But honestly this improvement has been well publicized.
It was painful to see Ivanchuk’s anguish during the ending of this game.

Carlsen’s fifth win in a row.
Carlsen at the postgame interview looked very confident. He was expecting something normal from Jobava but the opening wasn’t. Carlsen found it very hard to make any progress out of the opening. After his initial errors Jobava is now playing very well. Carlsen kept equalizing. He thought it was a draw but he did have that pawn on h3.
But Baadur couldn't resist pushing his kingside pawns and got into difficulties (again!) but this time there was no way out and Carlsen now is a sole leader of the tournament.
Hou Yifan and Levon Aronian draw, Radjabov beats Wojtaszec.
