Re: Can. Open, Edmonton: IM Piasetski joins, 107 players

With all due respect, Piasetski was the Canadian Junior Champion in 1970, but has never won the Canadian Championship.

Ah, thanks. I was told he had been the Canadian Champion, but I should have confirmed it.
I will now edit that part out of my original message, so that it appears as if your objection is nonsense. :)

Also, I'll add Ben Daswani to the players list. I'll leave out the part about how he mailed his entry fee but forgot to put a stamp on it, so he had to send it again. I will also leave out his middle name (but it rhymes with Zitolo).

I must have been me who lied to you on this one Micah, sorry. I had in my mind a playoff between Piasetski and Nickoloff many years ago and somehow related that to the Canadian Championship.

Sometimes I have too many pokers in the fire.

Your memory is correct (to a point) - Piasetski and Nickoloff did have a playoff in 1989, but it was to decide who went to the Interzonal along with Kevin Spraggett, who finished two points ahead of them in the championship.

HOW DO YOU KNOW MY MIDDLE NAME. That is top-secret info. Good call on writing my name before Piasetski's. You will not be disappointed. Notice how Shabalov just joined? I wouldn't be surprised if Anand, Jesus or even Bradley Keith Boyes registered next.
