GM Bator Sambuev will also be attending.

Open : 1300,700,500. -2200: 200. Entry fees: $65 (before Sept. 6); $85 (before Oct. 30); $95 (later).
Section -2000 : 1100,600,400. U1900: 150. Entry fees: $60/$80/$90.
Section-1700 : 1000,500,300. U1600: 100. Entry fees: $55/$75/$85.
Section-1400 : 800,400,200. U1300: 50. Entry fees: $50/$70/$80.

Free entry for GM's, IM's, FM's, and Quebec masters before Oct. 1; otherwise $30.
$15 less for U16 in the U1400 section.

Michel Roy has done a fantastic job in promoting this tournament. It came out of nowhere a few years ago and is now the 2nd(!) largest tournament in Quebec based on prize money. The conditions and special prizes add to the attractiveness of the event. For those who have not participated, I would highly recommend it.

Attractive class prizes are a key factor in the success/popularity of tournaments and this is much more prevalent in Quebec than Ontario. This is why the turnout in Quebec tournaments overshadows that in Ontario tournaments. Maybe Ontario organizers can reflect on this.

The Open section is CFC and FIDE rated but it doesn't seem like the other sections will be.

The open section will certainly be, as it is FIDE rated.

Other sections? I doubt it. Anyways, most of the guys won't have a CFC rating or it will be outdated.
