        Oct 23 Rapid Results

15 players -- less a few byes -- on the nicest Fall day in Ottawa this year. The winner looks like he's just about ready for the World Senior in the Czech Republic in November.

Reminder: NO RAPID OCT 30, as the RA Fall Open is that weekend.
        Rapid returns Nov 6.

          Re: Oct 23 Rapid Results

The RACC's blitz championship is Thursday Nov 10, 2016.
So the RACC Sunday tournament on Nov 5 will help prepare with a faster-than-usual TC: 5min + 5 sec.

We'll play 5 double-rounds -- playing each opponent as Black and as White.

Reminder: set your clocks back tonight or you'll be way early.
Advice to people who habitually arrive at the last minute: set your clocks back only 50 minutes :)

                  Re: Sunday April 24

Congratulations to Peter and especially to 8-year-old Daniel Xu who ploughed through a gaggle of older and much higher-rated players to tie for first. Great work by the youngster.

Good turnout of 15 -- including the 2016 Canadian women's Champion -- was mildly spoiled by the TD finishing first, but then failing the drug test for having taken too many pills for back pain.

Halldor Palsson will direct the Rapid next weekend.

Two way tie at the top between 8-year-old Daniel Xu, much-older-than-8-years Kamal Balazadeh, and grumpy TD who complains that he would have won if SwissSys allowed full-point forced byes.

                              Jan 8 2017

The first RA Sunday rapid of 2017 was won by Armando Valdizon.
Interesting note: the game between the youngest player and oldest player --- Daniel Xu (9) and Bill Doubleday (69?) -- was drawn.

There will be NO RAPID next weekend -- Jan 14-15 -- as there is an EOCA weekend tournament then. The Rapid returns Sunday Jan 22, 2017.

Correction: Doubleday is the second oldest player. (I am regrettably the oldest.) The young wizard, Daniel, beat me in our last encounter in this event and this time out claimed the scalp of Halldor Palssen.
