Re: European Union has 80% support of wind power

Fwiw, I can't recall personally ever using youtube as a source.

What is truth? It's a question as old as the bible. Still, many do not believe in any part of that book, nor in what they choose not to believe, say much of what may be on the internet. Personally, I try to get around to looking at opposing points of view, to try to refute beliefs I have if I'm not 100% certain in them (through personal experience, ideally). It's one reason why I'm a chess master, and many people are not. It's about a scientific approach, which many scientists, media or decision-makers in real life may completely subordinate to their politics, and/or being pressured. :p

Anyway, fwiw, here's what I hope is one 'quality' link regarding what was in my previous post. It's about the wealthiest 1% of US citizens. I'll try to come up with other such 'quality' links, regarding my other points: ;)

Here's ONE link re: honeybee population NOT declining (I'm less sure that it is a 'quality' link, but the truly conscientious may look for others):

At this point one might care to ask :D, what is my personal outlook on such major issues as politics, humanity's future and religion? :) Well, I happen to have an extensive blog on the CFC website's Discussion Board, including a blog category that deals with issues unrelated to chess (one thing is sure: my views on humanity's future and religion will be unusual and unexpected, but backed up with many wikipedia links). Time will tell if many of my words there are gold:

Fwiw, for people who trust Cdn. gov't released weather data, at least tentatively, here's a link re: Ottawa's rather chilly April 2016 data:

            http://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate...16&timeframe=2

Below is the April 2016 Cdn. gov't weather data for Vancouver B.C.; apparently well within the average (see April average & extremes noted near bottom), in spite of earlier left-wing media hype (e.g. CBC) about the west being so warm in April, in contrast to the east:

            http://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate...tationID=51442

A typical day at the CBC in April

            http://www.cbc.ca/vancouverweather/mt/

[edit: Once long ago I listened to someone on the other side of the global warming issue. They claimed that the Cdn. gov't's own weather data, such as in the links above, doesn't exactly support the idea of global warming, at least as far as Canada's official weather/climate data records go; these are not exactly made public with great fanfare. Anyone who is truly conscientious can piece together the truth for themselves, if they dig into the government weather data that's on the records, for various locations over a long period of time across Canada. Even without hearing of this, I'd smelled a rat long ago concerning so-called global warming. The left-wing/UN quest for a one-world government, such as by using as a trojan horse global warming and other environmental 'concerns' (e.g. honeybee population 'decline') is one possible explanation among many, but it's one of my favourites.]

In case you haven't noticed, Bob G., I'm going for total crushing victory against all this left-wing crapola. Being condescending and self-assured one too many times has ticked me off. Try to stay the nice guy that you usually are.

Kevin, I only made 1 post. This was after you invited me into the conversation by including my name in the subject line. Don’t you think the nasty is a little over the top?

Anyway, I decided some time ago to abstain from certain debates on chesstalk. So, if it’s okay with you, please leave me out of this one.

Bob A will likely only respond if the spirit so moves me.......Chesstalk is not considered by many a productive place for chess discussion, let alone non-chess discussion.

However......I feel I do learn a log of chess stuff here; so here I diverge from what I understand to be the majority Canadian chess player view.

Here's a link to Ontario power data. Note the insignificant percentage given in the pie chart (near bottom) re: wind or solar, say for today's usage. I'd note that cheaper electricity is held back from being produced, say at Niagara Falls, so that 'all' the wind and solar is used (long ago I gave links on chesstalk about the sweetheart deals with companies that the liberals made for these). Also, I'd note electricity is heavily sold to outside of the province FOR A LOSS.

P.S.: I'd note that former premier Dalton McGuinty's advisor on Green Energy has moved on to have Justin Trudeau's ear at the federal level:

Dear Leap Manifesto critics: there will be no jobs on a dead planet

"Across Canada for the past three days the right wing media has been attacking the NDP for passing a resolution agreeing to “discuss” over the next two years the Leap Manifesto, a common sense document that calls for taking global warming seriously, actually doing what is necessary to prevent our planet from being cooked and trying to create a better world while we attempt to ensure our collective survival.
Cooked? Really? Even the most dire fantasies fueled by the phony climate change models don't claim that the planet will be cooked. The cataclysmic models claim a 2 degree warming over the course of 100 years. Exactly how is this cooked? The only cooking being done is in the cooking of the raw numbers in order to be able to claim a temperature trend that is not taking place. Old numbers are lowered and the new numbers are adjusted higher in order to show a trend that is not there. In 20 years they will stop adjusting the numbers and claim that the billions that they funneled to their cronies successfully arrested the march of climate change.

If the carbon models were accurate they would account for the increase in biomass of plants in a carbon dioxide rich world which will act as a feedback mechanism to increase the consumption of CO2 and not to mention the effects of a higher temperature on life. A warmer world is a more hospitable world when it comes to humans, animals and plants. Then again we can ignore the facts when there is a planet to "save" and bank accounts to fill.

As for the Malthusian dreamers who think that they will decide who lives and dies, they are being silly. They will be the first to go in their fictional socialist utopia. They always kill the teachers and intellectuals first as they are the ones that notice and point out the contradictions between what the party faithful say and what they do which is considered inconvenient by the true believers.

Left or right has nothing to do with anything. Truth or lies has everything to do with it. The people who are promoting climate change and the billions being poured into it have no intention of living as if they truly believe their own propaganda. When the hypocrisy gets too thick they will just buy carbon credits from themselves and make it all better. Never mind that this does nothing to address what they claim is the cause of this global crisis.

                          Wake up.

The green movement is all about money and big business and big government.

The Leap Manifesto is long on aspirations and short on detail. It was clearly not written by politicians and will never be adopted by the NDP as policy.

Socialists and like-minded sorts were the first, and current, critics of Malthusian views. Malthus claimed that population would outstrip food supply and, therefore, a reduction of the population was inevitable. He didn't seem to care much about how that took place - just as long as it was the "unneeded" poor who lost out in some disaster. This has more in common with political views on the right ... even the extreme right ... than with left wing views.

                                ...

Arguing the merits of the overwhelming scientific consensus on human-caused climate change here on ChessTalk is rather like arguing about the harmful effects of smoking with tobacco industry lobbyists. No thanks. :)
Dogs will bark, but the caravan of chess moves on.
