  • Hacking CFC NewsLetter??

I just received an e-mail purportedly from CFC Newsletter <m.gagne@rogers.com>

Obvious to me it is not real. Be careful before you click on the link.

I didn't get such an email, as yet, fwiw. Nor did I get any similar such suspect email the last time the CFC newsletter was suspected to be hacked.

Since we don't have a Rogers.com email address this is more of a phishing scam than a hack. It is possible that this M. Gagne individual has been hacked.

It's not from the Newsletter, and probably also not from "m.gagne@rogers.com", if that even is a real email address.

I think it's what is technically called "spoofing": email sent with a forged header so that it seems to come from someone who did not send it. It is a common spammer trick so that the actual source of the spam does not get shut down or blocked.
