      Great turnout!

      113 players
      1 GM
      1 IM
      3 FMs

Maybe more organizers should consider 1 day events!?

Hope the organizers reminded everyone that the tournament winner -- GM Raz -- got his start at the MCC.

I actually like the idea of 1 hour break between rounds because it allows players to take a short nap, re-energize, buy some foods and chat with friends. Regarding time controls, perhaps, 2 seconds or a little longer (increment or delay) maybe needed. It also allows the TD to resolve technical issues/problems and make announcements before the round starts. It's ideal for players who does not want to take the whole weekend playing in a chess tournament. The length of time between playing 3 games (90 minutes + 30 sec increment) in one day in my guess is quite shorter or pretty much similar.

What a turnout with so many titled players and a final game between the two highest rated players in the tournament - GM Razvan Preotu and IM Artiom Samsonkin. An absolute great deal for all the players and the prize money also exceeded the guaranteed prize of $ 2k. The total prize money at the end is close to $ 3k or more ( with the cost of trophies included ). You have 4 CFC regular rated games at $ 10 or $ 12.50 a game and it costs you one day only instead of the normal two days. The downside of course is that it has to be run with a faster time control. I would think 50 mins + 5 secs increment will be better than the current 1 hour SD. The 1 hour break in between rounds is also a good change with players recovering from the previous games.

Thanks to all who participated and made it another wonderful and memorable tournament. Big thank you also does to MCC Paul R / Bob G and Ferdinand S being the host and TDs.

Next tournament coming up is Guelph Pro-Am - one of the biggest tournament in GTA on Nov 5-6 with GM Razvan playing again. His games are mesmerizing so be there to catch our youngest GM.

          Cheers

Actually, Razvan was a regular at the Burlington (ON) CC for quite some time when he was in elementary school ...
I still remember him dutifully entering moves on his Monroi ... :)

Edit: I just checked the Monroi website... do they still operate?
Last tournament listed where the devices were used was a long time ago and
the personal device is listed as 'out of stock - check again in October'.
