                Final standing of WCCC.

Anthony Atanasov achieved the best performance with a 5th placing ( 8 points ). Special mention also goes to Nameer Issani for achieving 8 points, placed 9th overall.

Congratulations to both of them for top ten and also to the rest of the team for a pretty good performance overall.

                Cheers to Chess In Canada

Congratulations to Team Canada for your valiant fight! Kudos to the HOD, coaches, parents and everyone who made your performance in Batumi possible.

I was studying the final results. A link that Gary kindly provided was updated today to include rating calculations. That's how I noticed a peculiar thing: a Canadian player in Open U-12 category, Qiuyu Huang, has the K factor of 20, even though it should have been 40, like everyone else on the team.

Surely enough, once I checked Qiuyu's FIDE page, the B-Year field was empty. Thus, the system couldn't verify that he was still younger than 18.

Looks like an easy fix would be to put a correct birth year so that Qiuyu isn't penalized in rating calculations for future events. I'm not sure though whether the WYCC Cadets rating calculation can be adjusted retroactively. Maybe someone knowledgeable with the process, like Bob Gillanders or Hal, could help here?
