2017 Kingston Open Chess Tournament
An EOCA Grand Prix Event
Date: March 31 to April 2, 2017.
Place: St. Matthew's United Church Auditorium, 31 Weller Avenue, Kingston, Ontario
Rounds: 5, forfeit time is 30 minutes after the start of each round.
Friday 8 PM (registration 7:30 PM),
Saturday 10 AM & 3 PM and
Sunday 10 AM & 3 PM
Type: Regular Swiss, FIDE and CFC rated.
One section tournament-prizes by rating group-rating groups determined by distribution
100% of the prize eligible Registration Fees collected are returned as prizes
Time Control: Game in 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move.
Entry Fee: $50 for CFC or FQE members, $70 for non-members. Fair exchange on US currency.
Amateur Entry Fee: $30. Amateur entrants are not eligible for prizes.
Free entry for GM/WGM & IM/WIM if entered by March 28, 2017.
Requesting byes: max of two ½ point byes in the first four rounds if requested before the start of
round 1.
Electronic Devices: A mobile phone or other electronic device is allowed to be stored in a
player’s bag or purse, as long as the device is completely switched off. A player is forbidden to carry
a bag holding such a device, without the permission of the arbiter.
Accommodation: we encourage players (and their families) requiring accommodation to make
their own arrangements this year as Kingston offers many alternatives. If you need assistance with
