If it's the same guy - he played regularly in Toronto until last summer.

Jacob Stein played at the Annex CC, and in many Toronto and area weekend tournaments - was quite a regular player - may have been at U of T as a student, but not sure.

One of the annotated games has FM Michael Humphreys as black. Very interesting.

          Hi Hans,

Jacob played several tournaments at Hart House and was a regular member of the club for many years, until he moved to New York.
He was a UT student but he's also studied at Ryerson and Seneca if I am not mistaken. He was also an instructor for Chess & Math for a while.

I was lucky to give him a ride after his last game at annex a year or maybe even two years ago now?.. anyways, he found a full time chess teacher job and moved to NY. That's at least what he said then..

Jacob started his chess career at the CMA tournaments held at the Primrose hotel in downtown Toronto. I was running the events in those days and his Dad would run in with him at the last minute to register. Once they arrived I knew I could start the tournament :). Later in life he came to teach for us. I was down in the Big Apple with Francis Rodrigues a couple of weeks ago and Francis met up with him for dinner. I will leave the rest of the story to Francis :)
