It is an awesome event to play in. There were very few Canadians in 2016, it's really nice to see many more this year. It's not too expensive to fly there from Canada, Edmonton even has direct flights to Iceland. I really hope I can play in 2018, it didn't work out this year because of my work.

A really nice touch for class players like ourselves is EVERY player gets a personalized card at their board, with name, rating, country --- just like the GMs at the front!

Very impressed with Aman's play. Of course his opening prep had a lot to do with his win over Shirov, but he had to find lots of good moves. I guess being a Chessbrah has its advantages. They all know the Taimanov variation so well. At the risk of jinxing Anan, he should be a GM before the summer is over and he can shave off his beard.

Very impressed with Aman's play. Of course his opening prep had a lot to do with his win over Shirov, but he had to find lots of good moves. I guess being a Chessbrah has its advantages. They all know the Taimanov variation so well. At the risk of jinxing Anan, he should be a GM before the summer is over and he can shave off his beard.

I finally saw Aman in person last night (at the Pub Quiz), and his beard is GREAT! (I've never been able to grow a decent beard lol)
