      Hi Victor,

What are the chances of getting these 10 players to take part in a closed event (10 players - 9 rounds - 1 game per day)?

I think we could find sponsorship to make it work...just not sure these 10 players would all want to play.

      Your opinion please.

I think Larry has a great suggestion. A couple probably won't play, they never do, but it would be a great opportunity to fill the vacant spots with promising young FMs.

Chesstalk is full of great "suggestions" where apparently there are a lot of sponsors ready to take action and support a strong private event. None of them have ever come to fruition, so I can't take this too seriously either.

If there are so many sponsors waiting in the wings why is our National Championship the laughing stock among elite players :D

            Hi Larry,

The chances of getting ALL these 10 players to take part in a closed event are extremely low. In my opinion, the chances are less than 5%.

I was forced to edit the line for GM E.Hansen, because executive decided to grant him an exemption. Eric " had accepted a teaching contract with the US Chess Centre (this also caused him to miss the Continental)."
