Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:
* Racism
* Hatred
* Harassment
* Adult content
* Obscene material
* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party
* Material the posting of which is tortious or violates a contractual or fiduciary obligation you or we owe to another party
* Piracy, hacking, viruses, worms, or warez
* Spam
* Any illegal content
* unapproved Commercial banner advertisements or revenue-generating links
* Any link to or any images from a site containing any material outlined in these restrictions
* Any material deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Board staff
12. Users are welcome to challenge other points of view and opinions, but should do so respectfully. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Posts and threads with unacceptable content can be closed or deleted altogether. Furthermore, a range of sanctions are possible - from a simple warning to a temporary or even a permanent banning from ChessTalk.
Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.
Advice for free
14. You should exercise the same caution with Private Messages as you would with any public posting.
Contrary to Mr. Belzberg's comments, I still believe that EC would have ruled on the matter fairly if they could gather first hand evidence from Anton, ZA and the Chief Arbiter. They needed a clear reconstruction of those few minutes. The unofficial sentiment was with Anton but we will never know what might have been.
What I already quoted from Spraggett's blog in my previous post clearly show's that the ethics committee has a long history of corruption and they just handed you yet another lame excuse and a pile of malarkey. Good thing you don't run a real store because you just gave the proverbial store away mate! A store, that is not even your's to give away. When FIDE pisses on the CFC don't come back and tell us it's raining yellow drops! You should be telling them that in your considered opinion they are frauds and that this opinion in addition to their historical track record of fraud will be widely reported to the entire world. Not, that they are nice guys! You need to grow some balls and learn how to negotiate with thugs.You are clueless in this area.
I am giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are just naively stupid but not corrupt. Given that you participated in the process in 2014 that got these crooks and absolute dregs of humanity elected in the first place after you declared publicly you were conflicted out of participating in such a process in 2010 I have no doubt that many here are beginning to think about you differently then I am.

Thanks for the offer, but my current 50-60 hour work schedule prevent me from taking on executive duties. I'm considering it once I retire, but that's a decade from now.
As previously stated, I am happy to pay for Neil's CFC Membership. However I believe Neil will not put his name up until he has a majority of voting members stating publicly that they will vote for him.

Another option I'd consider is if you ran for Vice Pres ...I'll run for Pres. We have a lot of work to do on several fronts.
Anything elitist we'll trust to Drkulec & Co. ...whom I have full confidence in that regard. Except for two items; FIDE chess server & our missing $60,000.00.

My internet is working again so just quickly before we go back into session - Anton's permission to act on his behalf came in email correspondance with him. The legal jargon was less important because it all came down to EC being able to interview the relevant parties. I met with Francois Strydom for half an hour on the day before the EC meeting and he invited me to the meeting where I was invited to comment, as was the Chief Arbiter.
Contrary to Mr. Belzberg's comments, I still believe that EC would have ruled on the matter fairly if they could gather first hand evidence from Anton, ZA and the Chief Arbiter. They needed a clear reconstruction of those few minutes. The unofficial sentiment was with Anton but we will never know what might have been.
Some interesting points in there - including Anton's assertion that he DID give permission to the CFC to represent his interests and received no paperwork about it.

Add to that, Drkulec posted here on CT that the CFC was pleased to have overcome such an important hurdle of receiving Anton's permission!
The paperwork never got done because of the ethics committee requests which I believed asked for some kind of notarized permission coupled with a somewhat ridiculous timeline. We received their request on Thursday September 28th and we were being asked to organize everything for Monday October 2nd.
This from FIDE's official statment on why the Chess Federation of Canada formal appeal failed to be heard:
"On 27 September 2017 the EC received a formal complaint against the organiser of alleged breaches of the FIDE Code of Ethics from the Chess Federation of Canada (CFC). The CFC asserted that it was acting “in and for itself and on behalf of GM Anton Kovalyov”. The complaint was not supported by any statement by the player.
The EC chairman requested from CFC a power of attorney or letter of authorisation under the signature of the player enabling the CFC to represent his interests. The CFC’s submissions were also sought on the issue of whether CFC in its own capacity enjoys standing to act as the complainant."
Power of attorney or letter of authorization could have been easily prepared and E-Signatures are legally binding and quickly used every > single > day.
Anton is a grad student trying to make good grades in a difficult program who already missed some school due to his participation in the world cup. Asking him to fly to Turkey to deal with this was just unreasonable.
I am used to absurdity. Not everyone is. A rational response to absurdity is to remove yourself from the absurd situation and concentrate on what is important to you. Anton has been fairly consistent in this regard. He did not create this situation. It is not about the shorts or the dress code. I want to see him continue to play chess even if it is strictly outside of FIDE. I believe that he will do so. Perhaps some new leaders will arise within FIDE to make it less absurd at which point it will be possible that Anton will even return to FIDE play.
That's actually a fair point. I agree the situation is absurd. But my point still stand. In the very little interaction Anton had with FIDE officials, he acted like a victim. I understand that he wants to move away from the absurdity, but even then, you have to be careful on how you're going to move away. If you act like a victim, you're gonna be treated like a victim by some bullies.

Doesn't change the fact that you almost have to fight with Anton to convince him to defend his own cause...
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Zurab A. is a bully. These guys have a predator-like mentality. They can smell the odor of a potential victim from miles away. So my advice to Anton would be: stop acting like a victim and the bully won't have any power on you. I know it sounds rude, but that's the sad truth.
