    Re: long slow games online

Have a look at the following sites, they may answer some of your questions:

    http://www.stcbunch.net/news1.php
    http://teamleague.org/

I regularly play 45 45 and 60 30 chess games on FICS (www.freechess.org) through both of these organization's chess events.

I you prefer individual play compared to team play, then STCBunch-hosted tournaments would be the obvious choice between the two.

Is there a website out there that regularly has longer games, like 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move? I don't mind paying for this if there are many semi-serious players.

Thanks in advance, Aris (rated about 1900).

Thanks, STCBunch is appealing, but I guess it still requires agreeing when to schedule games. Though it does seem well organized. It seems their championship starts today.

If you look in the left navigation bar in STCBunch, you'll also see that there are 45 5 tournaments (three rounds on the same day) taking place on FICS (Saturday) and ICC (Sunday). These tournaments are semi-automated events that do not require time agreements with your opponents, It may suits your taste better although the time control might be a little short.

Yeah, that is a little short. Still looking for something like 60 30, but this looks unlikely.

I must admit that I am surprised at such a lack of long games. Ironically, if I do well at a multi-table poker tournament, we often cross 4 hours. So, longer poker than chess, LOL.

            Has poker 5-, 3- or 1-min possibility? :D

Aris, you may try http://chessplanet.ru or their English version http://chessok.com/?page_id=145

Hi Egis, thanks for those sites. This might sound counter-intuitive, but I am hesitant to play on a free site, as especially for long slow games, I prefer an "invested" opponent ;)

As for poker speed, they have all kinds of "time controls". You can play cash (ring) games for a few minutes, or super turbo for 15 minutes, to sit-n-go (SNG) for about an hour, to multi-table-tournaments (MTT) for many hours. I still find it strange that I can easily find a long poker game but not a long chess game. But maybe that's just me! ;)
