  • Congratulation Hikaru Nakamura!

Just read on Susan Polgars blog that Hikaru Nakamura won the chess960 (fischer random) world championship.

Thanks for the link, Jason. It is mentioned there were only 2 draws in 20 games, but this was Rapid Chess (is that 10 minutes for the entire game?).

Nevertheless, Chess960 should be considered the future of chess, but will it fulfil that promise? At one time a lot of people thought Active Chess was the future of tournament chess, but it appears to be languishing according to the thread that Kevin Pacey put up a short while ago.

Thanks for the well wishes. I would especially like to take this opportunity to thank Jack,Jamin and Pascal for really encouraging me to win this title though!

May I add-- Congratulations, World Champion Hikaru!

For anybody who grabs the PGN from chesstigers.de and has trouble reviewing the Chess960 games: The free Arena (version 2) will replay the games. Many PGN viewers have trouble with aspects of Chess960, usually the concept of castling. Enjoy the carnage!
