7 rounds of classical chess in 2 days plus Friday night?
Seems like it's more of a physical stamina test

        Hi William

I think I'm fit enough to take up this challenge William ......... a bit long in the tooth, a bad back now since May 2018, somewhat overweight..........sure ....... I can do it!

Because of personal circumstances, I won't know 'til Monday if I have a conflict - Brian allowed me an exception (To register a few days late, if by then I find I can play).

Hopefully though, I'll see both you and Corinna there!

Am I correct in nothing that this event can't be FIDE rated (or at least the top section) due to the time control? FIDE states that "Where at least one of the players in the game has a rating 2200 or higher, each player must have a minimum of 120 minutes". The time control is game/90+30s, so the game would have to last at least 60 moves before the 120 minute minimum is reached.

My understanding is the 30 minutes of 60 moves count, and the 60 moves is just the average number, not an exact number.
The tournament is registered with FIDE, so I assumed it is correct.

Time control 90min+30sec is good for everything - rating and norms. The "minimum" is calculated with the theoretical game of 60 moves.

There could more some financial troubles with RR, as FIDE charges it more than Swiss.
