In the final position diagram of Gorti - Yip above white is tied in knots (bad position bind) More accurate is 24.Qc1 Bg4 and if 25.Qc2 Rd4 and white should not escape the bind.

Thanks to Jeffery Xiong (and Sam Shankland) for the entertainment. In rd 3 Jeffery Xiong played uncompromising chess out of the opening. First sacrificing one then two pawns and the exchange as Black and an amazing attack. Sam Shankland also got creative with his king. In the interview later Jeffery admitted he got to a position where he wasnt sure how to proceed and didnt see Re5 (as Fabiano also admitted). Crazily complicated tactics and a lot of inaccuracies but Sam hankland finally cracked. Jeffery Xiong now leads the field by himself with + 2 with both wins as black!

            - shankland has been worst in each of the three games. He has depended on blunders of other players
            - The position itself is pretty crazy. Easy for humans to go wrong.
            - lots of black pieces hunting the white king
            - nothing wrong with depending on blunders of other players

Poor Jeffery Xiong finally went to far. Although time pressure must have played a role.

The good news is that Jeffery Xiong is still tied for first after his traumatic loss in round 4 to Ray Robson, mainly because all other games were drawn. The championship is becoming very, very interesting.
