We are delighted to host the 2019 Canadian Junior Chess Championship taking place in early August 2019. See tournament details below:


Location & Dates

When: When: Thursday, August 8 – Sunday, August 11, 2019

Where: E Building (E345) at the Humber North Campus, 205 Humber College Boulevard, Toronto, Ontario M9W 6V3 (Click here for map)

Note: Accommodation is available at Humber College: Double Suite rate of $80 plus HST per night (Max occupancy of 4). For details on how to book and make accommodation reservation, click here. Format

Type: 8 Round Swiss. CFC rated & FIDE rated for OPEN, U2100 & U1800. CFC membership is required.

Type: 6 Round Swiss. CFC rated for U1300 & U1000. CFC membership is required.

Sections: OPEN, U2100, U1800, U1300 & U1000 Round Times

OPEN, U2100 and U1800: Rd 1 Aug 8 – 10 am; Rd 2 Aug 8 – 3 pm; Rd 3 Aug 9 – 10 am; Rd 4 Aug 9 – 3 pm; Rd 5 Aug 10 – 10 am; Rd 6 Aug 10 – 3 pm; Rd 7 Aug 11 – 10 am; Rd 8 Aug 11 – 3 pm

U1300 and U1000: Rd 1 Aug 9 – 10 am; Rd 2 Aug 9 – 3 pm; Rd 3 Aug 10 – 10 am; Rd 4 Aug 10 – 3 pm; Rd 5 Aug 11 – 10 am; Rd 6 Aug 11 – 3 pm Time Controls

1.5 hrs + 30 secs increment – All Sections Byes

1/2 points for rounds 1 to 6 (OPEN, U2100 and U1800 sections) and rounds 1 to 4 (U1300 and U1000 sections)

The byes MUST be requested in advance, at the latest prior to the end of the previous round.

$1,500 (worth airplane ticket to the World Junior Chess Championship for the winners of the OPEN Section)

OPEN: Trophies + tickets (boys and girls)

U2100: Trophies + 1 entry boys (if CFC 2100+ by Jan 1, 2020 – then a place in the OPEN section of 2020 Canadian Junior CC)

U2100: Trophies + 1 entry girls (if CFC 2000+ by Jan 1, 2020 – then a place in the OPEN section of 2020 Canadian Junior CC)

U1800: Trophies + 1 entry boys (Open Section of Canadian Junior CC) + 1 entry girls (Open Section of Canadian Junior CC)

U1300: Trophies + 1 entry boys (U1800 Section* of Canadian Junior CC) + 1 entry girls (U1800 Section* of Canadian Junior CC)

We have 148 players in last year tournament and we hope to break this record.....

Winner of this tournament for the TOP section for boy and girl will get to go to this year WJCC.

2nd place will get to go to Pan-Am JCC and 3rd place to NJCC.
